Gume presents DOBRA, a musical project that delves into the syncopation and rhythmic traditions of Africa and its diaspora, in dialogue with urban culture.

DOBRA is the manifestation of the relationship between the real and the symbolic, swinging towards a sound mythology that resonates with the axioms launched by Sun Ra:

“I do not come to you as a reality; I come to you as the myth!”

This album combines melodic motifs and rhythmic cells through improvisation, creating a rich foundation for the development of new narratives that draw upon traditional forms such as Cuban rumba, Brazilian Maracatu, Haitian Rara, jazz, and rap. DOBRA pays tribute to paradox, diversity, and the concept of simultaneous existence, as well as the idea of the skin as a border that is constantly in motion.

Gume presents itself here in an expanded version with the participation of 14 musicians, poets and actresses, creators who have significant experience in improvisation, popular song, and folklore.
